Lake Day Atlas

Granite boulders frame sandy coves at Sand Harbor on Tahoe’s Nevada shore. Across the lake, the road above Emerald Bay looks down on Fannette Island and a deep inlet cut into the Sierra Nevada.

On the water

Plan your lake day

Pick one shore for a half-day. On the east side, walk or bicycle part of the paved Tahoe East Shore Trail from Incline Village, then picnic among the pines at Sand Harbor. On the California side, allow time at Emerald Bay for the climb back from Vikingsholm if you take the trail down.

Field notes

Before you go

Sand Harbor has a seasonal vehicle reservation system. Check the park’s arrival window before setting out, especially if bringing a kayak on your car.
