Lake Day Atlas

Seneca Lake is long enough that the shore you pick matters more than a pin at the center of the lake. Watkins Glen anchors the south end, while Sampson State Park offers room for a slower day on the eastern side.

On the water

Plan your lake day

Start at Sampson for a lakeside picnic and a walk along the waterfront. Stay on the east shore into the evening for views west across the water, or plan a separate morning at the Watkins Glen marina.

Field notes

Before you go

If you combine the state park with Watkins Glen, allow for the drive around the south end. A place directly across the water may be a substantial road trip.
